May 27, 2015: We don't see many Flickers in Virginia, so when this fellow (probably a pair) showed up the other day it was a special treat to take the shot. It wasn't until today during our dog walk that we got close enough to get a good capture. Grub hunting is challenging work and takes concentration, so when the bird was behind the tree, we moved in closer. Sure enough, it was too busy to notice us until we got a shot and pickings must have been good because it continued to feed while we took pics.
